Daniel Edward Dooley
Crew Commander
Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service
United Kingdom

Born and raised in Dundalk, Ireland, Daniel Edward Dooley moved to the Isle of Man (IOM) along with his mother, seven brothers and four sisters when he was fifteen years old.   In 1979, immediately upon graduating from school, Danny joined the IOM Auxiliary Fire Service, which at that time was part of the National Civil Defence Corps.   In 1984, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a career firefighter, and joined the IOM Fire and Rescue Service, where he has been employed for the past twenty-four years.  Having had several promotions during this time, he holds the rank of Lead Firefighter, commonly known as Crew Commander.   As a highly respected fire officer on behalf of the IOM Fire and Rescue Service, he now serves on the Community Safety Team, presenting seminars on fire safety, fire prevention, fire code enforcement, standards for building construction, the importance of smoke detectors and sprinkler systems, etc.

Over his long career, Danny has responded to and worked at countless fires, road traffic accidents, sinking ships, and of course the proverbial cat up a tree.   Danny has also been the recipient of numerous honors, commendations and awards.

In addition to basic training and service in all aspects of tactics and fire operations, he has received extensive training in Hydraulic Platform and Turn Table Ladder Operations, Emergency Fire Appliance Driving, Off Road Driving, Dive Tender, Incident Command, Command and Control, Aircraft Fire Protection, Confined Space Rescue, Community Safety Management, Fire Prevention, Risk Assessment, and on many other topics.

Having travelled quite extensively and having spent time with many other fire departments, Danny's direction over the past few years has led him to assist with the donations of increasing amounts of fire equipment and fire appliances, and to deliver training for brother firefighters throughout Eastern Europe.
